Greater Noakhali was considered as an area of
conscious people during colonial rule. Lakshmipur district is a part of that
political heritage. The political leaders of this region, irrespective of
their belief and ideals responded timely to the call of the people and the
country. Anti-colonial movement, Non-Co-operation movement, Khelafat
movement, under-ground terrorist movement were led by the political leaders
of Lakshmipur.
