Mohammad Sirajul Islam was born on 10 January 1949 at village Gandharbapur under Mandari union of Lakshmipur district. His father is Late Haris Uddin and mother is Sayera Khatun. Mr. Mohd.Sirajul Islam is the eldest among 6 brothers and 2 sisters. Education Life: Mr. Sirajul Islam completed his primary education in Mandari Model Primary School. He passed SSC examination from Mandari High School and HSC from Nowab Faizunnesa College, Comilla. He passed BA (Hons.) in Political Science from Dhaka University and obtained Master Degree in the same subject from Chittagong University. Service Life: Mr. Mohd. Sirajul Islam was engaged in teaching for long 5 years in Omargani M E S College. Side-by-side, he was engaged in journalism and creative writings. |

His first novel was published in 1965 by Choumuhani Magazine House. In those days, he received TK. 350 as royalty from the publisher. He was a working journalist in The Daily Azad and later on Daily Pakistan and in Desh Bangla published from Chittagong. In 1979 Mr. Sirajul Islam joined govt. service as a BCS officer. A considerable part of his professional life was spent in Bangalee Rehabilitation Zone in the Hill Tracts of Chittagong. After that, he served for long 9 years as UNO. He worked as APS of State Minister for Health for 5 years from 1992 to 1996. Besides, he rendered his services in many Govt. offices including the National Assembly. At present, he is serving as Deputy Commissioner Settlement (D C S) i.e., Director ( Land and Property Management ) and concurrently discharging his duties as Member, National Housing Authority. Recently he has been promoted to the rank of Addditional Secretary from Joint Secretary. |

Family Life: Mr. Sirajul Islam got married on 12 Oct. 1971 with Rehana Islam, daughter of Al-haj Sujaet Ullah, an eminent businessman of Lakshmipur. Mrs. Rehana Islam is a good house wife and associated with many social development organizations. The couple has 6 daughters. The eldest daughter Wahida Islam is engaged in teaching in Master Mind School at Dhanmondi. The second daughter Meheruba Islam is a resident in USA. Tania Islam (Ami), Sabrina Islam (Sharmi), Taskina Islam (Bubli) and Anika Islam (Priyanka) are all engaged in studies. |
